Degré7 winner announced!

11 March 2010

Here come the results of the Degré7 contest!

We received a lot of submissions for the fist summer collection of the brand. But there is only one winner, and the jury chose babate for his concept. You will find it on this page. Congrats to him! He wins 2500€ and will meet the Degré7 team very soon in France.

Francois Gadrey, Degré7’s CEO, wanted to congratulate the winner himself, and explain the jury’s choice:

“We really appreciated his graphic approach. We can feel the fluctuation of the body (with the different actions) and the spirit (with the meditation standing). In short, we can feel in these humans are always thinking or acting. We liked the colors, the sobriety with the very coloured backgrounds and the monochromic shadow.”

Congratulations ;)

Update on the Piaget Brief

5 March 2010

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your interest in the Piaget contest. We would like to inform you that there are important changes on the Piaget competition. Unfortunately, Piaget’s event at Place Vendome is cancelled due to legal reasons and as such, we have no choice but to amend the brief which was originally to create a video around the keywords “Piaget, Place Vendome and Celebration”.

This is a very difficult decision as we understand that many of you have started working on the existing brief and have put in a lot of effort. We’ve tried our best to avoid any changes but the circumstance makes it unavoidable.

For all those who submitted their entries in time for the Early Bird deadline, we will update you on Monday (8 March 2010). Meanwhile, the revised brief is currently being developed so please stay tuned for more updates! Again, please accept our sincerest apologies.

Sorry once again,

Nicolas

Interview with Anti-HIVirus Video Contest Winner!

1 February 2010

Here’s a little interview we did with Aung Ye Kyaw (Neutron), one of the three winners of Standard Chartered Bank’s Video/Animation Competition. Ye Kyaw took home the Anti-HIVirus US$5,000.00 grand prize!

Tell us your name and where you’re from…
Hi! My name is Aung Ye Kyaw. I am from Myanmar.

Neutron

Ye Kyaw, otherwise known as Neutron in the eYeka community proudly displays his eYeka certificate!

How long have you been on eYeka and what made you want to be part of the community?
I became a member of eYeka community four months ago. I got this web address from one of my friends and he told me that this site is the good one for the animators. And then, I become a part of this community because I can share the knowledge of animation and design with other animators and designers.

What made you join the Anti-HIVirus contest and what inspired you to do the animation?
First of all, its title, Anti-HIVirus, really attracted me. I believed that if I could do an informative animation, it will provide a great advantage for people. Moreover, creating a good animation is the one that I have been crazy about for ages. The above factors made me want to take part in the contest.

When I was young, I really liked cartoon movies (both 2D and 3D) and also admired the animators who create those attractive movies. I have been dreaming all the time to be a good animator like them. It motivates me to do animations.

Any advice to aspiring animators?
I would like to give the following advice to aspiring animators: “Everyone can be a Hero!” “And so, Keep Moving Forward!” I would also like to thank the jury of Anti-HIVirus Call for Entries and my fellow eYeka community members.

Thanks for sharing your passion with us and we look forward to seeing more of your works in the future. Again, congratulations Aung Ye Kyaw!
